here in st. pete we just lost another policeman...he wasn't lost he was shot and killed...by a sixteen year old kid...a black sixteen year old...we live in a racially charged city...less than a month ago two policeman were killed by another African American...the usual racist crap is on the airwaves...but...this is not a black white thing ...this is a gun thing...no one but the police need handguns...i do not give one shit about your personal liberty...if you need a gun then the gun available to the American public should be a shot gun...a big ...hard to conceal...shotgun...you can defend your home...your family with a shotgun...what not cool enough...not sleek and shiny and able to hold a forty two bullet clip...tough shit...the argument that only criminals will have guns...is frankly bullshit...the nra...a gun lobby...dispels this garbage and every single American is less safe for it...the right to bear arms was brought about because of the English laws that forbade it prior to our revolution...it was never meant as a window for the average person to possess instruments of warfare...we need peace and the sooner only cops have guns the sooner our society changes...a friend...an anti gun guy made a great point...every gun used in a crime in this country was at one point a legal registered weapon...it was most likely purchased by some well meaning homeowner and lost, stolen or pawned into the shady world of illegal firearms...where it became an instrument of violent crime...when do we get that we reap what we sow...my hearts go out to the family's of three young cops killed by our nations inability to police itself...

here is a little after thought...you know i usually try to find a little picture, to comically illustrate the point of todays blog...but when i tried to find an image to finish the blog...i typed in "anti gun" and "gun control"...what came up was startling...nothing but support for people having guns...jokes...cartoons...poking fun at anyone "dumb" enough to support gun control...we were likened to hitler and every other dictator in the last century...i wonder why we as liberals don't think the same way...why don't we have cartoons humiliating anyone who disagrees with us...how about this one... the smiling bad guy standing over a dead good guy with his bloodied, bullet ridden "nra" t shirt ...the caption reads..."keep paying those dues"

As I age, i find that I am far less accepting of life's little faux pas.  I am surly.  I growl. I snap at unsuspecting irritants.  I look in the mirror and see  what my life has pulled down on me.  Wrinkles, saddle bags, hair in very strange palaces.  I expect things...simple things to proceed as planned.  If my cellular bill, for example, is due on the 24th, I expect it to be taken out on that date. Today is your memorial service.  Today your friends gather at historic Gracie's to tell tales, laugh and drink to your memory.  I worked for Gracie, thanks to you, sneaky Pete and Steve.  Its fitting, a legendary spot, to pay tribute to the man that inspired me and unknown others to go chase our dreams.  I loved when we cooked together and I found my passion, standing next to you.  You shared your love and unfathomably incredible knowledge of music with me.  I found Jason Ricci, Eric Lindell, Los Lobos and David Migden in our "MO, wait till you hear this moments".  I endured your love of all things Zappa and I survived Zappa torture.  To those unfamiliar with this, it involved the can, copious amounts of inhaleables and song after song of your archives.
