a year away and yet...wtf!!!

So four years ago I was ranting...about Bush and Cheney...about war and big business...about my lack of medical insurance and about an ever expanding elite class poised to destruct America...wow... what a difference a couple years make...Bush seems a distant memory, although his legacy ain't...Cheney remains the hate mongering old fool  he always was... and yet...it all seems so much worse...the war in iraq seems over...osama and ghadafi are dead...but my house is worth 60% less than it was 4 years ago...i still have no health insurance, but i did get to see what happens to a person thrust into the system...there is no credit...no jobs...and both parties don't seem to have a single person that could inspire and unite us...the republicans keep dredging the bottom of the barrel for whatever worked in the last election...a black guy...a woman...except as usual they have no concept of good and evil...or dumb or dumber for that matter...joe the plumber is running for congress...now that the only requirement for public office is a catchy slogan damning the very institution they are trying to be elected into...the list would make Mad magazine a fortune when they lined them up...Bachman, Cain, Romney, Perry and god knows whatever slimy ignorant bastard the gop can sift up to appeal to the tea baggers and the christian alliance...and don't get me started about my heartbreak over Obama...an orator of no substance...the balless wonder...we elected him to change how bizzzness was done...and he has spent three years trying to draw the other side across the aisle...you know slick willy never asked you to join him on a vote or a policy...he threatened, blackmailed or humiliated you into it...and we had a balanced budget and hadn't fought a war in a decade...but the democrats don't have a single guy willing to take the Pres to task...to ask the hard questions...it no longer matters which side wins...we all lose...so no ranting from this liberal...not this election... all hail the machete party...if you can't beat em,,,chop off their fucking heads and put them on pikes outside the city walls...so all will know...what happens to those who fuck with us...just sayin

As I age, i find that I am far less accepting of life's little faux pas.  I am surly.  I growl. I snap at unsuspecting irritants.  I look in the mirror and see  what my life has pulled down on me.  Wrinkles, saddle bags, hair in very strange palaces.  I expect things...simple things to proceed as planned.  If my cellular bill, for example, is due on the 24th, I expect it to be taken out on that date. Today is your memorial service.  Today your friends gather at historic Gracie's to tell tales, laugh and drink to your memory.  I worked for Gracie, thanks to you, sneaky Pete and Steve.  Its fitting, a legendary spot, to pay tribute to the man that inspired me and unknown others to go chase our dreams.  I loved when we cooked together and I found my passion, standing next to you.  You shared your love and unfathomably incredible knowledge of music with me.  I found Jason Ricci, Eric Lindell, Los Lobos and David Migden in our "MO, wait till you hear this moments".  I endured your love of all things Zappa and I survived Zappa torture.  To those unfamiliar with this, it involved the can, copious amounts of inhaleables and song after song of your archives.
