the beach...no repubilicans and a tropical storm

Sometimes on tuesday nights the beautiful girl and I head out to the beach...see whats going on...check out Sean's bar...go see Loretta...say good bye to an old friend, bound for new adventures, Kimmy...and so it was last night...we ventured north through what is normally quiet beachside towns...but I had a sense of curiosity...what with the RNC in town...would I be deluged with tea-party idiots...drunk, dancing and espousing their jingoist rhetoric...would I have to indulge anti Obama shots along with my Grand Marnier...but a very funny, very telling thing happened as I journeyed down our beaches...there was no-one here...no more republicans on our beach than normal...we have million dollar homes, you see...it is the habitat for their species...but the bars weren't packed with Romney revilers...they hadn't come...talked to a sales manager at our lowes W property...the Don Caesar...30% occupancy..come to find out they had booked 1600 room nights for the Rnc and were using only 300...same at the other hotels...and it got me  to thinking...Every little town has a sign..."treasure island welcomes the RNC"..St. Pete beach, Madiera, Indian rocks all have banners as you enter the city limits welcoming these delegates...the delegates that never came...I am sure their were beautification projects...public funds spent in anticipation...to welcome...who..no-one....now you can say the tropical storm scared them off...really...they were interviewing people in  Nawlins on vacation that had more reserve than the political representatives of this party...Those of us who live by the beach...well we're kinda sadists...we watch the weather channel...looking for a sign that the party is coming our way..we load up with booze, batteries and snacks...and head toward the maelstrum...cars parked in beach side lots...wind blown faces...looking out into the sea...getting ready to run for cover, but all the while, excitedly...waiting for mother nature to come unglued...but as I sat with my friends...It came to me that this is who this party has come to be...the party that promises everything and delivers jack shit..all the people that were hoping to catch some cash from these "Romneyites"...left holding the bag...Three year renovation project at one beach resort...haha on you... I Bet that banner cost a couple hundred bucks...that sandcastle sculpture competition and band on the beach...should have been a beach cleanup party...money better spent...so welcome RNC...thanks for all the revenue...all the help to small businesses...we see your vision loud and clear...  so it will be for all of us should the evil empire defeat the rest of America in November...
