Its been a month..a month since this nation re-elected a black man with a Muslim sounding name to a second term as president...a daunting task indeed, seeing that the election campaign against him started on November 8th 2008...This poor bastard endured lies, misrepresentations and an assault by the troglodyte right so misguided and disorganized as to resemble a wagon train with the horses tied muzzle to tail...walking in endless circles...but that being stated..its over...Obama won..except in Florida...they are still counting...what else is new... and i was struck by the massively obvious statement made by the 2012 electoral statistics...we are no longer white world...America is now controlled at least at the polls by non white males...Mr.Romney won 6 out of ten white male voters...think on that a moment...and then he lost the election...that is startling for a couple of reasons..firstly...its the first time in history that a single candidate won white male voters in such a lopsided manner...and he lost!!!wow cheffie is it state the obvious sunday??? but that made me think..people of color and women elected this president, over the strident hyperbole of bug eyed white guys all over this nation...the republican party missed that statistic...that demographic group...they pandered to the angry white guy..rerun the adds in your mind...how could they campaign to the Latinos in our country..."we like you amigos..now just trim the hedge an get back over the Rio grande...vote for mitt"...or women...lets overturn roe v wade...back to coat hangers and chop shops...or finally the African American vote...they spoke down to this specific group like they still had masters...drug testing for welfare moms...supposing that every woman on assistance was a cheating ho on drugs...it was the last lame charge of a dying vision of America...like it or not...we are not all white, or male, or straight...we all don't speak perfect English and weren't born in Ohio... This is the new america...wake up white guys

As I age, i find that I am far less accepting of life's little faux pas.  I am surly.  I growl. I snap at unsuspecting irritants.  I look in the mirror and see  what my life has pulled down on me.  Wrinkles, saddle bags, hair in very strange palaces.  I expect things...simple things to proceed as planned.  If my cellular bill, for example, is due on the 24th, I expect it to be taken out on that date. Today is your memorial service.  Today your friends gather at historic Gracie's to tell tales, laugh and drink to your memory.  I worked for Gracie, thanks to you, sneaky Pete and Steve.  Its fitting, a legendary spot, to pay tribute to the man that inspired me and unknown others to go chase our dreams.  I loved when we cooked together and I found my passion, standing next to you.  You shared your love and unfathomably incredible knowledge of music with me.  I found Jason Ricci, Eric Lindell, Los Lobos and David Migden in our "MO, wait till you hear this moments".  I endured your love of all things Zappa and I survived Zappa torture.  To those unfamiliar with this, it involved the can, copious amounts of inhaleables and song after song of your archives.
