my honey do list...

those of you that know me know...that i have vagabond spirit...not in the moving from country to country...state to state...kind of thing..but the apartment to house...from mill to cabin...kind of thing...renting always afforded me a new vision...new environs....well lately ...for the past 5 years I have shared a house with "the beautiful girl' and at times her sister...her daughter...and my dogs..cats ...iguana etc...the point being ...my honey do list was comprised of mow the lawn...wash the cars... and thats about it...
Well our little house..."the beautiful girl" owns it...is old by Florida standards...1940 or so...not so old when you consider that I lived in a cabin built in 1684 in pa....but still by Florida standards ancient...take for instance that it has no heat...most of the housing built out by the beaches where for winter livin...and hence never really experienced a winter like the past one...so...no heat...no air..they didn't live here in the summer...no insulation...bad windows...those cute jallosy things...that all have to be replaced...raw cedar plank siding...lovely but...termite magnets...in a state with termite mounds!!!...vegetation that grows like...like the fuckin jungle...and now all the plaster in the place seems to be falling on my head at the exact same time...so HONEY GET DOIN!!...I have been drywalling...something that i swore I would never do again....building walkin closets...adding french doors....it seems as usual I am doing these things at the wrong side of my life...I did it for other people when i was young...and now that i am an old chef...doing it again...think I will ever get it right...at least now i can reward myself with a nice bottle of medoc and a fine cuban cigar....

So I am listening to the box and hear the story about Rham Emanuel referring to some politicos as "retards".. And then the head of this weeks "retard" brigade Sarah "what the fuck" call for his immediate resignation for denigrating all people with developmental disabilities. What a fucking "retarded" thing to say. Yet proving once again that this vapid glamor hog has nothing credible to offering in any intelligent conversation. No one was calling anyone with any disability any names. He was calling college educated legislators "retards". He could have used imbecile, fool, dolt, moron, pinhead or twit. But to his never ending mugient pain, he did not. His words had the same meaning and he could spared us all another 10 minutes of "palinism" for the tea party" retards" to latch on to. Today is your memorial service.  Today your friends gather at historic Gracie's to tell tales, laugh and drink to your memory.  I worked for Gracie, thanks to you, sneaky Pete and Steve.  Its fitting, a legendary spot, to pay tribute to the man that inspired me and unknown others to go chase our dreams.  I loved when we cooked together and I found my passion, standing next to you.  You shared your love and unfathomably incredible knowledge of music with me.  I found Jason Ricci, Eric Lindell, Los Lobos and David Migden in our "MO, wait till you hear this moments".  I endured your love of all things Zappa and I survived Zappa torture.  To those unfamiliar with this, it involved the can, copious amounts of inhaleables and song after song of your archives. Songs stopped only by you, translating the nuances that a rookie like me, most certainly missed.  The only rescue was SuSu and her, "honey enough! his eyes are glazed over and he has to drive...
